4 Tips to Creating a Coastal Christmas Theme

·
Christmas time is all about family, friends and reflecting on the year that was. Creating a beautiful theme in your home adds to the wonderful memories you make each year. This year, White Havana chose a coastal theme that captures the essence of Australian Christmas’s; Sun, sand and simplicity.

Here are a few key points to keep in mind when decking your home in coastal cheer!

Colour

1: COLOUR

From Navy blue to sea foam, white to sandy linen, the colours you choose to create your coastal Christmas will set the overall feel for the season. We like to keep things light and bright. Try adding a white table runner and neutral napkins for a neutral base. Adding a touch of soft blue will keep things fresh and relaxed. This can be incorporated in artwork, serving bowls, cushions or rugs

Texture

2: TEXTURE

Whether it’s starfish, coral or shells, by adding just a few seaside elements, you can create a relaxing mood as everyone gathers round the table. Our tip is to add a shell Christmas decoration on each napkin which is a simple yet effective way to style your table and gives your guest something to take home at the end of the day.  Our ethically sourced coral is a key piece that can be used all year round to add texture and the touch of coastal luxe.

Greenery

3: GREENERY

Your Christmas tree is always the star of the holiday season. No matter big or small, a beautiful tree that is lit up and sparkles will make even the Grinch feel warm inside. If you don’t have room for a tree, wreaths and garlands will add a festive feel to your home.
Adding a sprig of eucalypt or pine from a real Christmas tree to your dining table is a great way to keep things festive and complement the whites and blues.

Sparkle

4: SPARKLE

Decorative lights, glass ornaments, ornate ceramic lamps and candles all add a wonderful glow to the home. By adding light up pieces to your mantle, coffee table or buffet you create a little bit of Christmas magic. And if ever there was a time to add a bit of glitter to your life, there is no better time than Christmas!
